Summer Time 2020!

The coronavirus pandemic has shaken all our lives this Spring term. As this unique term draws to an end for our students, teachers and staff here at IEGS, I want to thank each and every one of you for a most memorable academic year of 2019/2020. I thank you for your commitment, dedication and hard work in all aspects of school life, as it is you that makes all the ideas in school, small or large, come to life and be a success. I have continued to be impressed by our students and teachers during the year, and especially during distance learning where both have adapted with their teachings and
Digital Ways to Read Books

It is not at all new, reading books online. 1999, when I did my GYAR project, the new thing was the Palm Pilot, a portable screen that almost looked like what a smartphone looks like now. The talk around town was that this was the new way to read books. My idea was to let friends write stories for a webpage from where you then could download the stories to your Palm Pilot. The project was not a success, since the Palm Pilot was too expensive for anyone I knew to buy.
Fast forward many years, digital reading has exploded. Nowadays almost everyone has a device which you can use to read books

As the holiday season creeps in, an Autumn Term flies by

The last school day of the year has arrived. The school is soon empty and dark, and silence will echo in the classrooms and corridors. Soon the clock will chime and we will leave 2019 behind us and we will move into a new year, 2020, with new challenges, promises, laughter and warmth.
I would like to take a moment to THANK YOU students and staff for a busy and memorable Autumn term.
As educators, we have collaboratively worked in ways to encourage our IEGS students to be reflective in their learning journey as they continue to develop as learners. We strive to encourage our students to

IEGS Debate team competes at Swedish Nationals, ends weekend in the Novice Finals

A student blog post from EYP in Austria 2019

The chairperson announces the final vote and proceeds to wrap up the debates for the day. People get up, speaking quietly about what just happened on their way out. I am still sitting, in shock. I look around and find that everyone in my committee is doing the same. We slowly get up and the tears we were fighting back are now coming. We sob like children all the way to the next venue. Although we are inconsolable we wipe our tears away to keep up appearances during dinner.
To create a better understanding to this very emotional response I should probably start from the beginning. During my
The IEGS Art Exhibition 2018

This years IEGS Art Exhibition had a lot of great contributions! Every house participated in making the Art Exhibition as great as it was. This year it was held during open house generating a huge outsider influx and really showed the public what the talented people of IEGS can do!

“It’s so impressive!”
“I would totally hang this up in my house!”
“Wow, I had no idea there were so many talented people at my school!”
We also had contributions from many teachers around the school; such as Mr Khün’s lovely “Dragonflies” piece, Ms Moore’s amazing collages from
LGBT Books in the Library

As a part of the Pride Day, there will be an exhibition in the library with books with a LGBT theme. LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender.
As natural as it feels for us that the school library could have an exhibition with books that celebrates all kinds of love, it is important to remember that this would not be possible in some parts of the world. In some countries homosexuality is punished with death. But also in Sweden many teenagers and adults feel like outsiders and not accepted for who they are.
Welcome to the library to take a look at the books! I’ve tried to
